I tend to spend much of the wintertime curled up on the couch under a blanket with my favorite books and movies, enjoying all of the delicious snacks and drinks of the holiday season.
By the time spring rolls around, I usually find myself several pounds heavier than normal. At this point it's easy to start panicking - I'm far from ready to impress in a bikini, so how will I get rid of this extra weight before pool and beach season hits?
Thankfully, I have found a supplement routine that works for me (and it could work for you too)! On top of diet and exercise, the following five supplements have really helped push me along towards achieving my best bikini body. This is my step-by-step plan that you can follow easily.
But first, break the FAT
The supplement I always start my bikini transformation with is Garcinia Cambogia extract. It contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which boosts serotonin levels. Not only does serotonin help you fight off depression, but it also helps to reduce your appetite.
Additionally, HCA inhibits the production of citrate lyase, which is a fat-making enzyme. A reduced appetite paired with lower fat production naturally results in aided weight loss! I believe Garcinia Cambogia supplements were the key ingredient that made it easier to lose those last few stubborn pounds.
If you (like me) follow a standard high-carb diet, your body mainly get energy from glucose (carbs). It’s easy to get overloaded with carbs like sugar or bread and the excess is instantly stored in fat cells. Switching to keto diet forces all your body to look for alternative sources of fuel and this is where the exogenic ketones enter the game. This supplement boosts ketosis, which is your body's process of turning stored fat into the energy source "ketones". This is another key step in aiding weight loss.
Exogenous ketones also suppress the hunger hormone "ghrelin". Snacks and large portion sizes are a personal struggle of mine, so reducing my hunger levels without the use of food is very important and useful to me (and I am pretty sure, for you – too!).
These beautiful lean muscles
Breaking fat is the first step, but structuring the lean muscle lines is next! One more supplement that I tried is the essential amino acid L-arginine. This amino acid helps you work out harder and longer before you feel fatigued, thanks to the boost in nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a vasodilator, meaning it improves blood flow and waste removal in your blood. Now that working out is easier, I can exercise for longer periods and build lean muscle more quickly than before. Skinny legs and beautiful abs are definitely what you would like to show.
What a hot bikini look can be without sexy curves? You definitely don’t want to get totally flat. So here’s my secret weapon - the third supplement I take is pure Maca extract. My genetics did not gift me with a naturally curvy body. One of my biggest insecurities during bikini season is the fact that my body stores fat in all the wrong places!
When I heard about the hormone-regulating powers of maca extract, and how the increased estrogen can redistribute fat to your hips, butt, thighs, and breasts, I was determined to give it a try.
Lo and behold, it worked! I feel much more confident in a swimsuit now that my belly pouch has moved over to my hips and given me a more hourglass silhouette.
Smooth and shiny skin
Last but not least, we have phytoceramide supplements. I live in an area that gets harsh winters, so come springtime my skin is very dry and dull. The last thing I want to do when my skin is looking rough is to strip down to a bikini!
This is where Phytoceramides helped me tremendously. They reduce the levels of free radicals and elastase enzymes in your skin, allowing it to go from dry, dull, and loose to hydrated, bright and smooth.
With the help of these five supplements, I no longer have any reason to worry about beach vacations and pool parties! Summer has quickly become my favorite season now that I'm confident in my bikini body.
